Photo de l'artiste

Since 1957 bathed in the african big spaces, turned towards to escape, Sophie BRYCES is painting to express her fascination for wildlife splendor and female mystery.

Since 1990, she pays homage to vibrating and noble beauty of wild animals with the eye and the patience of a hunter of images but refuses to give a faithful photographic representation.

So to give rise to a free animal all moving on canvas, she faces a double challenge :

First, to restore in a preoccupation with a perfection their harmonious anatomy, their splendid furs, their captivating glances…

And then, to collect a little their soul subtlety while creating an intimist imaginary space.

This way of painting combines the technical how to make with the projection of the spirit.

My painting oscillates between the hyperrealism and the partial abstract.

Wild life painting does not forgive any false step.

“With the mounting under the colors of the brushes,

the animals become animated and scan your glance…

Of a blow of claw, they can tear the canvas and leap towards you.

You, the fascinated prey.”

The palpable emotion is the final touch.

The frame is specifically designed to emphasize the art work giving an original and harmonious look. It is an integral part of the painting.
